Na noite desta quinta-feira (7), foi realizada a cerimônia de entrega dos prêmios do The Game Awards 2023. O evento aconteceu no Peacock Theater, em Los Angeles, e contou com a apresentação do jornalista Geoff Keighley.
Para a edição deste ano, eram elegíveis os jogos lançados entre 18 de novembro de 2022 e 17 de novembro de 2023. Os indicados foram selecionados por um júri composto por mais de 100 veículos de mídia e influenciadores; há também um júri especializado para algumas categorias, como eSports, acessibilidade e melhor adaptação. Os vencedores foram escolhidos por uma votação mista entre o júri (peso de 90%) e a votação do público (10%).
Com nove nomeações, Baldur's Gate 3 liderou as indicações, sendo seguido por Alan Wake 2 e Marvel's Spider-Man 2, com oito. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom concorreu seis vezes; Cyberpunk 2077, Hi-Fi Rush e Super Mario Bros. Wonder receberam cinco nomeações cada.
Baldur's Gate 3 venceu seis categorias, incluindo a de jogo do ano. Alan Wake 2 levou três estatuetas e Forza Motorsport ganhou dois prêmios.
